Richard E. Dodd, 71

Richard E. Dodd, 71, of Dubois, Indiana, passed away at 3:34 p.m. CST on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at his son’s home in Fort Branch, Indiana.
Richard was born on May 7, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana to William and Helen (Chambers) Dodd. He married Janis A. Cave on October 12, 1963 at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois, IN. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2008. Richard was a Iron Worker for the Ironworkers Local 103 in Evansville. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and camping.
He is survived by five sons, Denny Dodd and spouse Jayne, of Fort Branch, Danny Dodd and spouse Christine, of Haysville, Brian K. Dodd and spouse Jan, of Dubois, Robin Dodd and spouse Jodi, of East Dubuque, Ill., and Steven Dodd and spouse Brandi, of Dubois; mother, Helen Zehr, of Dubois; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one brother, William Dodd of Huntingburg; three half-brothers, Doyle Zehr, Ronald Zehr, both of Arkansas and Jake Zehr and his wife Sherri, of Dubois; one sister, Barbara Corn of Clarksville; three half-sisters, Diane Carie and her husband Terry, Dubois, Lisa Merkley and her husband Kenny, of Dubois, and Lila Kempf and her husband Allen, of Haysville.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were his father; one brother, John Dodd; one half-brother, Steven Zehr; and one grandchild, Tyler Dodd.
Funeral services for Richard Dodd will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (October 11, 2014) at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana, with burial to follow in Crystal Community Cemetery in Crystal, Indiana. Pastor Charla Grieves will officiate.
Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, and one hour before the service time at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Saturday.
