Richard E. Dell, 76, Dubois
Richard E. Dell, 76, of Dubois, passed away at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville surrounded by his wife and children.
Richard was a United States Navy Veteran who served for 20 years. During that time he rose to the rank of chief petty officer. He served aboard five ships, including the aircraft carrier JFK, during the Vietnam War Era.
After retirement from the Navy, he worked at Jasper Electric Motors and Jasper Engines.
His hobbies included woodworking, crafting pens and pencils, and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Dell of Dubois; two children, Kristina (Ronald) Dell Lewis of Beaufort, S.C. and Timothy D. (Mary Melissa) Dell of Greensboro, N.C.; one granddaughter, Emily Smith; three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death is one sister, Lola Dell.
A memorial service will be held in November at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana, where he served on the church council and repaired handbells. Interment will follow in the St. Peter’s UCC Cemetery in Dubois.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
