Richard (“Dick”) Joseph Greenwood, 75, Jasper
Richard (“Dick”) Joseph Greenwood, 75, of Jasper, Ind., died on September 16, 2025, at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center.
Dick is survived by his wife, Debra Greenwood; stepchildren, Christina (David) Morrison and Timothy (Natalie) Desser; step-grandchildren, Norah and Penelope; siblings, Thomas Greenwood, Dawn Greenwood, and Lynne (James) Bodony; nephew, Timothy (Karin) Bodony; niece, Rebecca Bodony and their children, Ida and Liam.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Patricia Greenwood, and brother, James Greenwood.
Living the majority of his life in Naperville, Illinois, Dick’s last career role was as vice president of Builder Marketing for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. He was also part of the Building Industry Association of Greater Chicago for many years. He was a great teacher and an outstanding motivational speaker for salespeople and home builders. He authored a weekly newsletter for home builders that kept them abreast of what was new and trending in the home building market in the US and abroad.
Dick was a world traveler, including many trips with National Geographic and other international organizations to the North Pole and Antarctica. Dick had a myriad of incredible adventure stories, including fending off a walrus while in a kayak and holing up in a cave for three days to avoid nearby polar bears, but is remembered for his kindness as when he gave his goggles to another Arctic explorer who was suffering. Dick continued his travels after marrying Debra; together, they traveled to many countries over the course of their 21-year marriage.
Dick loved to cook big meals for his whole family over the holidays and watched many football games with his brother, Tom. Dick was also a fearless DIYer; his tilework and other home improvement projects can be found throughout his family’s homes in Chicago’s western suburbs.
Over the last decade, Dick’s greatest joy was being with his family; especially his grandkids and his dogs, Mouse and Lily.
A Catholic mass will be held in Dick’s honor at a later date.
