Richard D. “Rick” Parson, 73, Birdseye

Richard D. “Rick” Parson, 73, of Birdseye, passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021, at home. 

Rick was born in Shoals on June 14, 1947, to Walter and Marjorie (Richardson) Parson.  

He married Carol Fritz on March 7, 1971. 

He retired from truck driving, which he had done for many years. 

Rick was a member of the Shoals V.F.W.  

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, fishing, playing cards, playing basketball, and spending time with family.  He was also an avid I.U. fan. 

He is survived by his wife Carol Parson of Birdseye; two sons, Tony Parson of New Orleans, La. and Brian (Sabine) Parson of Lobbach, Germany; three grandchildren, Christine Parson, Larry Carpenter III, Christy Johnson; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert (Linda) Parson of Newburgh. 

Preceding him in death are one daughter, Amy Carpenter, and one brother, Charles Parson.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
