Richard A. Erny

Richard A. Erny age 86 of Jasper passed away at 7:50 A.M. Saturday June 11, 2011 at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born December 24, 1924 in Jasper to: Edward and Christina (Blessinger) Erny. He married Mary Lou Werne September 13, 1947. She passed away August 13, 1972.
He then married Margaret “Peggy” Anders January 18, 1980 at Holy Family Catholic Church.
He was president of Erny’s Sheet Metal in Jasper-retired.
He was a WW2 Army Veteran.
He had been a member of the Holy Family Choir, served on the Holy Family School Board and council. He was one of the founders of The Holy Family Foundation. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the St. Vincent De Paul Society. Mrs. Erny was a recipient of the Brute Award.
He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 673, FOP, the DAV, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, Schnellville Conservation, the American Legion Post 147, and the Ferdinand Community Center.

- 6 daughters-Linda and Barbara Erny, Mrs. Allan (Sharon) Mehringer , , Mrs. Alan ( Laura) Huther, Mrs. Leon ( Sue) Reckelhoff and Mrs. Chad ( Jan) Uebelhor all of Jasper
- 4 sons-David, Joseph, Thomas, and Michael Erny all of Jasper.
- 2 brothers-Harold and Sylvester Erny both of Jasper.
- 4 sisters- Mrs. Donald (Margaret) Eckerle, Mrs. Michael (Betty) Reynolds, Mildred Erny, all of Jasper, Mrs. Edward (Annie) Reckelhoff of St. Anthony.
- 22 Grandchildren
- 12 Great Grandchildren
Preceded in death besides his 1st wife is 1 son Mark Erny, 1 daughter-Nancy Erny, 2 brothers-Robert L. and Vincent Erny, 2 sisters-Helen Hochgesang, and Mary Alice Schuetter.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday June 15, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The American legion Post 147 will conduct the Military Grave Side Rites.
