Republicans hosting presentation on How to Make Your Voice Heard in Politics

Public input into government decision-making is not always easy nor equally expressed by all segments of our citizenry.

We say, “the squeaky wheel gets the grease” or “money talks” to explain the discrepancies in what gets heard by public officials and policymakers. But the truth is that we can all make our voices heard if we understand the political system and the ways to communicate with our elected representatives.

The Dubois County Republican Headquarters, located at 506 Jackson Street in Jasper, will be open to the public from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 10. A presentation on “Ten Ways to Make Your Voice Heard in Politics” will begin at 1:30 pm.

According to Dubois County GOP Chair Bob Duncan, the group wanted to educate the public on the importance of interacting with elected officials before the 2024 election.

We feel a lot of people are frustrated and believe they are not heard,” he explained. “I believe this is designed to show people how to communicate effectively in a way more likely to get one’s point across and a better chance of getting a response.”

Former County and 8th District chairman Don Hayes will be presenting. The presentation will be supplemented with handouts on “How to Contact Your Elected Officials”, “Dos and Don’ts of Communicating with Government Officials”, and “Tips on Calling, Writing Letters and Sending Emails”.

Join us for a discussion on how to be more effective in expressing your concerns on the issues that affect you. Light refreshments will be served.
