Reasons to vote blue in November: Presidential guardrails must be reaffirmed.
In one week in Washington: Trump banned 3 major news outlets (MS NOW, Politico, and CNN) from entering the White House and reporting on the government’s actions, going against our First Amendment rights to freedom of the press. Diesel cost has reached its highest level, oil is now $108.00/barrel, mortgage rates are up and interests rates are up due to higher inflation. The U.S. economy is poor with unaffordable grocery costs and unaffordable healthcare costs. There was a call from Republicans to impeach Pete Hegseth for war crimes. Mike Johnson dismissed Congress early to avoid this vote. Trump was stopped from interfering with mail-in voting, so he lashed out at supreme court justices whom he appointed. Trump’s immigration efforts are unconstitutional and continue to violate our safety and rights and continue to separate working families. Don Jr. accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Russian Oligarch to pay for his wedding reception. There is no end in sight from the Iran war. Trump called concerns about AI a “hoax”. And after the courts denied Trump from putting his name on the Kennedy Center, Trump threatened to tear down the Kennedy Center unless he is allowed to put his name on the building. Trump also announced he wants to cheat in the mid-terms and is going to pay each adult $5,000.00 bride if Republicans take both the Senate and the House in the mid-terms in November!
Another week of insanity under the Trump administration, he threatened to annihilate Iran during his UN speech and said he is changing the name of AI to “Superintelligence”. Despite warnings AI needs to be regulated, Trump said tech leaders will not be regulated but instead sign a “moral agreement” to regulate themselves. Trump has been allowed to deport immigrants to third countries in which those people have never lived, and US taxpayers are paying 40 million dollars to do this. Trump took 20 million dollars of taxpayers’ money from DHS to pay for a campaign ad for himself. Trump threatened community-based services for disabled Americans. Trump through an Executive Order reversed nondiscrimination and equity policies for LGBTQ Americans. Trump redirecting $810 million in congressionally approved federal funds. Trump continues to try to ban CNN, Politico and MS NOW from the White House because he says they are negative with their coverage. Diesel cost is still high, now $6.84/gallon due to the war in Iran and Trump has placed tariffs on Canada. Americans are paying for this at the grocery stores and gas stations. Trump said the war in Iran is “small potatoes” and higher prices are worth it while he and his family are grifting billions of dollars. Measle cases are on the rise, and Mike Johnson took early recess and Mitch McConnell returned for a vote in September after being out for 92 days while still receiving his full salary. Mitch McConnell voted against federal paid sick leave legislation for Americans four times. Oh, and Don Jr. had his wedding reception paid for by Russian Oligarch, Umar Kremlev.
This past summer, FDA refused to publish studies that demonstrate the safety of Covid and Shingles vaccines. Trump recommended MMR vaccines for children be given in 3 separate shots, requiring 3 office visits and 3 co-pays. There is no scientific evidence or reason to separate the MMR vaccine. Gas prices continue to rise as Pete Hegseth cannot tell Congress the cost of their illegal war of choice in Iran. Trump posted himself and cabinet members and a woman in a bikini swimming in the reflecting pool that he decided to paint blue. The reflecting pool remains is disrepair after Trump spent $15 million taxpayer dollars on two no bid contracts to “fix” the pool after Trump lied saying the reflecting pool was vandalized. In May Trump held an oval office event with kids on physical fitness and falsely claimed he stopped 8 wars, called the 2020 election rigged, bragged between knowing the difference between an alligator and squirrel and told kids he stopped nuclear war and the mutilation of children and spoke about a woman dropping dead from a bullet between her eyes. He refuses to fund childcare. In the mist of all this Republicans said $1 billion dollars of taxpayer money is now needed to pay for the new ballroom, the one Trump said would be funded by private donors who would basically put money in Trump’s pocket to use as he sees fit. Trump threatened to tear down the Kennedy Center if he could not put his name on it. In addition, we ironically had to have the King of England remind the U.S. Congress about the separation of powers and need for checks and balances on the Executive powers! Trump has made over $2.2 BILLION DOLLARS as President in the past year and a half while average Americans are struggling to pay for groceries and healthcare! Now Trump is charging $100,000.00/month for early access to his Truth Social postings basically being paid for access to insider trading!
The list of horrific things this President is emboldened to do daily is outrageous! This list only skims the surface. He continues to misallocate funds approved by Congress, defy the courts, illegally impose tariffs, attack our basic rights of due process and freedom of the press. We now have an untrained police state invading many US communities, a President who admires dictators and insults our allies and grifts off the office of the Presidency. Vote blue in November. We must take back our democracy.
