Raymond J. Werner, 82

Raymond J. Werner, 82, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 8:14 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015, in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Japer.
Ray was born in Jasper, Indiana on April 27, 1933, to Robert and Edna (Breitweiser) Werner. He married Leona Blessinger on October 20, 1956 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.
Ray was an Army Veteran, serving from 1954-1956. He worked as an underground coal miner for 40 years and retired from R & H Mining. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. His hobbies included hunting and collecting antique tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Werner of Jasper; two daughters, Karen Healy and her husband Dan of Jasper and Donna Jones and her husband Forrest “Kip” Jones of Velpen; two sons, Steve Werner and his wife Margie of Jasper and Larry Werner and his wife LaDonna of Jasper; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters,
Norma Kimmerle and her husband John Kimmerle, Betty Keeler, Margie Werner and Marilyn Shipley and her husband Jim Shipley, all of Columbus, Ohio; five brothers, Donald Werner and his wife Beverly of Jasper, Eugene Werner and his wife Jane of Jasper, Tom Werner and his wife Mary Jane of Jasper, Jerry Werner of Columbus, Ohio and Leo Werner and his wife Ginger of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral services for Raymond J. Werner will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at St. Mary’s Church in Ireland, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The V.F.W. Post #673 will conduct military grave site rites.
Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
