Ralph S. Hopf, 77, Ireland

Ralph S. Hopf, 77, of Ireland, Indiana, passed away at 1:41 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, in the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. 

Ralph was born in on July 21, 1942, to Herbert and Ardella (Stenftenagel) Hopf. He married Carol Rae Gunselman on July 3, 1965, in St. Joseph’s Church in Jasper. 

Ralph was a member of the Ireland High School Class of 1960 and the Army National Guard. He was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana and he was on the Ireland Water Board and the Ireland Fire Department. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Rae Hopf of Ireland; two daughters, Sherri (Curt) Mendel of Jasper and Janet (Keith) Schuetter of Westfield; six grandchildren, Dustin (Brandi) Schmitt, Abby (Doug) Mitchell, Bristinne Mendel, Randy Schuetter, Kelly (Elliot) Barker, and Nicholas Mendel; four great-grandchildren, Zoey, Riley, Layne, and Drew; three sisters, Betty (Rich) Edwards of Ireland, Sylvia (Gilbert) Fleck of Ferdinand, and Marilyn (Jerry) Burris of Jasper; two brothers, William J. (Darlene) Hopf and Gary (Kathy) Hopf, both of Jasper. 

Preceding him in death is one sister, Rose Ann Wilson.

Private funeral services for Ralph S. Hopf will be held at Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, with a Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial in the church cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery Fund, the Ireland Fire Department or to a favorite charity.
