Ralph P. Humbert, 83

Ralph P. Humbert, age 83, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 2:18 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Ralph was born in Jasper, Indiana on April 5, 1931 to John and Olivia (Merkel) Humbert. He married Mary Lee Knies on October 24, 1990 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Ralph was a U.S. Army Veteran and served as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict.
Ralph retired from Peabody Coal and had his own shoe repair shop, where he did shoe repair since 1954.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, a member of the American Legion Post #147 for 49 years, and the United Mine Workers of America.
He enjoyed woodworking and car repair. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Humbert of Jasper; two daughters, Michelle Lueken, and her husband Phil and Melanie Buschkoetter, and her husband Bert, both of Jasper; four sons, Glenn Humbert, and his wife Gail, Mark Humbert, and his wife Carol, Paul Humbert and Scott Humbert, all of Jasper; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are one son, Kenneth J. Humbert, and one great grandson, Joey Humbert.
Funeral services for Ralph P. Humbert will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
