Ralph M. Lueken, age 78, passed away at 11:37 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at his home.

He was born August 25, 1935 at Schnellville, Indiana to Leo and Veronica (Seger) Lueken.

He married Alice Sander April 4, 1959 in St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois.

Ralph was a lifelong farmer and served on the board of directors of the former Dubois County Co-op, (Superior Ag). He also served on the Northeast Dubois School Board as president and vice-president; president of the Dubois County Pork Producers; Dubois County FSA County Committee; Dubois County Bank advisory board. He was the recipient of the outstanding conservation farmer of the year award.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Schnellville, Schnellville Conservation Club and Celestine Community Club.

His hobbies were playing cards, watching sports and he was an avid Cincinnati Reds baseball fan.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Lueken; four daughters, Linda Boehm and husband Earl, of Jasper, Donna Renner and husband Scott, of Ireland, Julie Welp and husband Fred, of Schnellville, and Sarah Beck and husband Adam, of Celestine; three sons, Ronald Lueken and wife Brenda, of Schnellville, Kevin Lueken and wife Kathy, of Celestine, and Wayne Lueken and wife Pam, of Schnellville; 19 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; four sisters, Therese Ernst, of Ferdinand, Marie Dall and husband Robert, of Ferdinand, Dorothy Bachman and husband Eugene, of Jasper, and Janice Hurst, of Huntingburg; two brothers, Louis Lueken, of Celestine and Ray Lueken and wife Aileen, of Celestine.

Preceding him in death are two grandsons, Nathan and Deven Lueken and three sisters Rosemary Lueken who died in infancy, Eileen Schuler and Rosalee Scherle.

Funeral services for Ralph Lueken will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schnellville.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel.
