Quilter’s Guild exhibit on display at Krempp Gallery
The Patoka Valley Quilter’s Guild will have many exquisite quilts and pieces of fiber art on display at the Krempp Gallery, Jasper Arts Center beginning August 2nd through August 30th, 2017.
The work represents a wide variety of techniques from traditional pieced and appliquéd quilts, machine or hand stitched, to some cutting-edge art and decorative pieces.
A public reception will be held on Thursday August 10th from 5 – 7 p.m. Family-friendly, FREE event with refreshments and a cash bar.
The Patoka Valley Quilter’s Guild was established in 1992 and currently has more than eighty members from the area including Dubois, Spencer, Davis, Perry, and Pike counties. Anyone who is interested in quilting is invited to join. Its mission is to educate and keep the art of quilting alive.
Each meeting features a program on a quilting topic, which gives members the opportunity to learn new skills or brush up on traditional techniques. The Guild hosts quilting retreats and monthly sewing days.
Community Service is an important commitment of the guild. Members annually host programs at the Dubois County Museum for Heritage Days for area fourth graders to learn about quilting and to design a quilt block. Members provide Komforts for Kids for distribution to youngsters in distress, totes and quilts for Crisis Connection, and quilts for area nursing homes.
Annual dues are $15.00. Prospective members may attend two meetings before joining and are always welcome to be a guest at the monthly meeting. Anyone wishing to join may contact Ann Jorden at (812) 631-3919.
The Krempp Gallery is managed by the Jasper Community Arts Commission, a department of the City of Jasper. The JCAC is supported by the Friends of the Arts, Inc., the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
