Purdue workshops address 2017 economic climate in agriculture

The economic climate of agriculture in 2016 and beyond will pose new and unique challenges to producers across Indiana.

Farmers are invited to join Purdue specialists at one of four workshops as they discuss management and decision-making strategies that can be used to endure economic challenges and maintain financial stability.

“The recent changes in grain prices coupled with contracts locking in key farm inputs such as rental rates have farmers re-evaluating their farm’s economic choices for the coming year,” said Kenneth Eck, Extension Educator in Dubois County, a conference organizer. “These workshops are geared to help producers know where they might be able to cut or reduce inputs in their operations, as well as where they might find tools to help evaluate their farm’s individual needs.”

Topics and presenters:

Making Long-term Cash Rent Decisions presented by Michael Langmeier, Extension Specialist, Purdue Ag. Economics Department or Nicholas Held – Ag and Natural Resource Educator in Spencer County.

Managing Crop Inputs While Maintaining Yields presented by Bob Nielsen, Extension Specialist, Purdue Agronomy Department

Workshops are free-of-charge, however pre-registration is required by November 11th at provided contacts.
