Public invited to groundbreaking ceremony for Frosty Jones Terminal at Huntingburg Regional Airport

The Huntingburg Regional Airport (KHNB) invites the public to join the groundbreaking ceremony for the Frosty Jones Terminal on Friday, March 14th from 8:45 a.m. EST (sharp) to 9:30 a.m. EST.

The new terminal is designed to replace the current terminal building, which has served the airport since the 1960s.

This Friday’s event marks the official commencement of construction on a state-of-the-art facility that will become the welcoming doorway to the southwest region of Indiana. Along with fulfilling this mission, the terminal will greatly enhance office and meeting space for the airport and its customers; provide a classroom for local students taking part in the aviation program; and a space for pilots to rest.

The terminal will bear the name of the Duff native who was credited with creating the airstrip. In 1939, Forrest “Frosty” Jones, aided by a donation from local business owner and Huntingburg Kiwanis Club, bought the strip of land that would later become the Huntingburg Regional Airport.

Community members, aviation enthusiasts, business leaders, educators, and public officials are encouraged to attend and witness this historic event. Distinguished speakers—including Gov. Braun, local officials, and project leaders—will highlight the terminal’s critical role in fostering economic growth and educational innovation.
