Psychedelic mushrooms seized after Jasper police receive tip

A tip led Jasper police to an apartment where among other drug activities, they allegedly located a psychedelic mushroom grow operation Friday morning.

After receiving information about the possible drug activity at the Village Court Apartments, 507 Village Court, police responded and a K9 indicated on the exterior door of an apartment where Jonathan L. Bedford, 27, lived.

No one answered the door when police initially tried to make contact with the occupants so police secured a search warrant for the apartment.

When the warrant was executed at about noon, according to police, officers located psilocybin (psychedelic) mushrooms and a grow for them, a large quantity of marijuana, paraphernalia and edible THC-laced gummy bears.

Authorities booked Bedford into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:31 p.m. on counts of dealing in a Schedule I controlled substance, dealing marijuana, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.
