Protestors appear at area post offices
Tables in front of the Huntingburg and Jasper Post Offices appeared yesterday morning with pairs of protesters handing out literature and happily arguing their cause with whoever approached.
Posters attached to the tables braved the wind to protest President Barrack Obama. They call for his impeachment and even liken him to Hitler by adding that iconic toothbrush mustache.
“What did he do to be impeached,” a passerby yelled to the Jasper pair.
“Benghazi,” one of the protesters replied.
“That’s not an impeachable offense,” the passerby yelled as he stormed away. “Can’t believe you people.”
Another van drove by, honked and then pulled around to talk with the group. Before the van driver got to the table, though, a couple walking their dog began arguing with the pair in front of the Jasper Post Office.
In Huntingburg, a camouflage hat-clad man yells, “What dumb@!@ are we going to replace him with?”
And so it goes.
The group members stated they had been with the Larouche Political Action Committee since it began in 2004 when it was demanding former President George W. Bush’s impeachment.
Named for the political activist Lyndon LaRouche, these protesters have been touring the area, setting up these tables and posters in public places and handing out literature.
According to its website, LaRouche PAC has several platforms: impeach the president for war crimes, reinstate former president Franklin Roosevelt’s Glass-Steagall Act (Indiana is one of three states that have passed resolutions to do such), establish public credit as a source of investment, and to replace our currently failing monetary system with a system of legitimate economic practice, and establish what they call a North American Water and Power Alliance to create jobs.
They don’t mind the arguments and flash thumbs up to vehicles that honk in their support. From second to second in front of the Jasper Post Office, both are occurring.
The four plan on staying in front of the two post offices all day or as long as the weather is amiable and then are moving to their next city tomorrow. “We find that people coming to the post office are thinkers,” one of the Huntingburg pair explained.
