Previous Christmas Lake Village manager arrested for several counts of theft, forgery and fraud

Update: According to state police, the amount Bauer is accused of stealing has not been determined but is expected to be between $2000 and $3000.

Spencer County – Indiana State Police arrested Al Bauer, 58, Evansville for several counts of theft he allegedly committed while serving as the manager of the Christmas Lake Village.

According to the Indiana State Police, an investigation into Bauer’s actions was launched about a month ago. Master Trooper Detective Rob Gardner opened the investigation after receiving a complaint that Bauer, then the property manager at Christmas Lake Village, was allegedly mismanaging funds at the village.

The investigation revealed that on several occasions Bauer wrote checks to himself out of the Village’s account.

Gardner was able to establish enough probable cause for arrest warrants to be issued. Armed with the arrest warrants Gardner went to Bauer’s residence at 19122 Fenwick Lane, Evansville and arrested him without incident.

Bauer was transported to the Spencer County Jail and booked on the following charges:

  • Two counts of Forgery (C Class felony)
  • Six counts of Theft (D Class felony)
  • Two counts of Fraud  (D Class felony)
