Precious Blood Parish Picnic on Sunday, August 21
The Precious Blood Parish Picnic is happening on Sunday August 21 and according to Father Gary Kaiser this one may be the biggest ever.
The picnic began in 1954 and in 1956, or two picnics later, building began on the Parish. “The picnic was started as a way to raise money to build the parish.” Father Gary said. “Folks came together and donated fresh produce and homemade cakes for the first picnic.”
It has grown to be an annual event and draws people from as far away as Evansville and Louisville. “We have parishes in Louisville busing over for this year’s event.” Father Gary said. “They come for the quilts and the homemade food, but a lot of people are hoping to take home one of the handmade quilts.”

This year the picnic’s silent auction is the largest ever. Along with many other items, local manufacturers have donated new furniture. Additionally, antique furniture has been donated from the rectory and convent. “These are great pieces of furniture available for the highest bidder.” Father Gary explained.
The event has many other activities as well. Booths from local organizations will be on hand and a large bingo game will be happening in an air conditioned building.
“It’s a good opportunity to invite people to visit our Parish and have a good time.”
The event will be August 21 and activities begin at 10:30 a.m. Precious Blood Parish is located off of Highway 56 West.
