Meth investigation nets six accused of dealing

Loogootee — Six people were arrested on drug dealing charges in a multi-agency drug investigation in Martin County Wednesday morning.

The warrants were issued based on a narcotics investigation targeting the sale and distribution of methamphetamine. The investigation began the summer of 2014.

Wednesday, officers from the Indiana State Police, Martin and Daviess County Sheriff’s Departments, Drug Enforcement Agency Task Force, United States Marshall’s Office, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms met for an operations briefing at 5:00 a.m. outside of Martin County.

At 6:15, three teams simultaneously executed the search and arrest warrants on the suspects. All six individuals were taken into custody without incident before 7:00a.m.

“I appreciate the detailed and hard work of all the police officers involved in this investigation,” commented Martin County Prosecutor Michael Steiner. “I also appreciate the long hours that my Chief Deputy Prosecutor Larry Brodeur put in on this case.”

All defendants had initial hearings in front of the Martin County Judge this afternoon.
