Police arrest armed man for allegedly stalking woman to state police post

Deputies arrested a Loogootee man for allegedly stalking a woman after they located him across from the Indiana State Police Jasper Post armed with a 9mm and an AR-15 on Wednesday.
According to authorities, a woman came to the sheriff’s department to report a possible harassment, stalking and violation of a protective order that had been issued through Martin County where she resides.
After the female left, Deputies began to look into the allegations but received a notification that the suspect, Jonathon Tayler, 38, of 259 Byron St., Loogootee, was in the area near the female’s place of employment located on Jasper’s north side.
The female, fearing for her safety, reported to the Indiana State Police Jasper post.
According to police, a few moments after the female arrived at the state police post, Taylor parked his vehicle across the street in a business parking lot. A Jasper police officer made contact with him and found he was armed with a 9mm handgun on his person.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle.
Both firearms were loaded.
Taylor was arrested for stalking while armed with a deadly weapon, a Level 4 Felony and invasion of privacy a Class A Misdemeanor.
This is Taylor’s second run in with local law enforcement in less than a week.
Last Friday, Taylor was arrested by Jasper police for possession of methamphetamines, marijuana and paraphernalia.
According to police, they received a call at about 8:35 p.m. concerning a silver truck driving recklessly southbound on Newton Street.
A Jasper officer caught up to the truck just past Baden Strasse and observing it pass several other vehicles in the right turn lane of Newton Street.
When the officer activated his emergency lights, the truck turned west on 36th Street. While on 36th Street, police say Taylor threw several items including a backpack that contained the controlled substances out of the window before stopping at 36th Street and Manor Drive.
Taylor was charged with a Level 6 felony count of methamphetamine possession and misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and illegal possession of a controlled substance. After being booked into the security center at about 11:14 p.m. Friday, he bonded out a couple of hours later.
