“Pluck a Duck” fundraiser and kids’ coloring contest set for September 26 in Jasper
Patoka 2000, a committee of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce, is inviting the public to sponsor toy ducks for its annual “Pluck a Duck” event, set for Saturday, September 26, at noon by the swings on the square in front of Jasper City Hall.
Proceeds support the group’s efforts to maintain and beautify the Patoka River Bridge area, including seasonal flower plantings, flag changes, spring and fall clean-up and landscaping, and an annual tree dedication each April for Arbor Day.
Ducks are $5 each, or three for $10. Entry forms and payment must be received by the Jasper Chamber of Commerce before the race begins and can be mailed or delivered in person to 302 West 6th Street, P.O. Box 307, Jasper, IN 47547-0307. Sponsors may also dedicate their entry in honor or in memory of a loved one. Entrants assume the risk of non-delivery for any entries mailed in. Participants must be at least 18 years old to enter, and the event operates under a license on file with the Indiana Gaming Commission.
The Chamber is also hosting a companion coloring contest for children through fifth grade. Entries are due September 19, with five winners chosen at random to help “pluck” the plastic ducks at the event and receive a $10 Dairy Queen gift card each. Winners will be contacted by September 22. Entries are limited to one per child and can be dropped off at the Jasper Chamber of Commerce, 302 W. 6th Street.
Donations to the Patoka River Bridge flower and flag fund are also welcome year-round and can be mailed to Patoka 2000, c/o Jasper Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 307, Jasper, IN 47547-0307.
