Plenty of holiday events planned at the Astra Theatre

Christmas is coming to The Astra in the form of The Polar Express and Christmas Vacation once again taking to the big screen on December 2 and December 16.

Don’t worry, it won’t be Clark or Cousin Eddie running The Polar Express, but both movies will be making a return to The Astra just in time for the Christmas season!

The Polar Express, thanks to a sponsorship by German American Bank, will be pulling into station at the Astra Theatre once again on Saturday, December 2 for a 3:00 PM matinee showing. Pajamas are encouraged in an effort to fully immerse oneself into the story. So, get your favorite festive pajamas out, gather up the family, and take a journey on an inspiring adventure to the North Pole. By the time you leave the theatre, you will no doubt “Believe.”

Tickets are on sale now at www.AstraTheater.com. General admission tickets on the main floor and balcony are $10.00 and include some special treats! The doors will open at 2:30 PM.

Then on Saturday, December 16, a good ol’ fashioned family Christmas will once again be had at The Astra as National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation slides on in. So, make plans to join the Griswold family along with the jolliest bunch of friends this side of the courthouse. Whether you arrive in your wood paneled station wagon or are dressed in your best Cousin Eddie attire is completely up to you, but make sure you are prepared to laugh and have a genuinely good time. No doubt this can prove to be one of your hap-hap-happiest Christmas activities of the season, and, who knows, just maybe you’ll learn a thing or two about exterior illumination.

Then, rock in the New Year with Thunderstruck: America’s AC/DC Tribute Band

This year, we won’t be ringing in the New Year; rather, we will surely be rocking at The Astra! Thunderstruck: America’s AC/DC Tribute is set to take over the Jim & Pat Thyen Performance Stage for our New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Tickets are on sale now at www.AstraTheater.com. Reserved seating tickets range from $40 for balcony seats, $45 for main level seating, and $50 for up front main level seating. Doors open at 7:00 PM.

Thunderstruck gives fans so much more than the sound of AC/DC, they truly capture the high voltage energy and experience! For fans, it’s about a sense of familiarity, and it’s about a feeling that snatches up listeners and takes over. It’s about a contagious kind of power and electricity that few AC/DC tribute bands can provide. Thunderstruck gives a complete and consistently quality live show as true to the spirit of AC/DC that you can possibly get.

The evening will kick off with some laughs when comedian Clint Hall who grew up in rural Indiana, takes to the stage at 8:00 PM. The music will follow at 8:30 when Rinn Duin bring their elegant and powerful rock ‘n’ roll force to the theatre. This band brings a fresh perspective to the genre, and they promise to captivate fans and music enthusiasts alike with their unique blend of talent and stage presence. Finally, Thunderstruck will take over at 10:15 PM and bring in the new year with pure rock ‘n’ roll!
