Peter Francis Murphy III, 67, Terre Haute

Peter Francis Murphy III, 67, of Terre Haute, formerly of Huntingburg and Jasper, passed away at 6:15 CST Thursday, December 7, 2017, at University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago, Ill.
Peter was born in Hammond, Ind., on January 29, 1950, to Peter Francis Murphy and Margaret (Lane) Murphy. He married Judith Ann Fleck on October 5, 1974, at Holy Family Church Catholic Church in Jasper.
Peter was a certified public accountant with a private practice in Huntingburg and also for the last four years served as the chief financial officer of Hammond Group Inc., in Hammond.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and attended the St. Joseph’s University Parish in Terre Haute.
He was an advisor for Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, was a past board member for Anderson Woods, and Southern Indiana Rehabilitation Services, and also volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul and many other charitable organizations.
He enjoyed good conversation, especially on politics and religion, and the companionship of friends and family.
Surviving is his wife, Judith Murphy of Terre Haute; three sons, Brian Murphy (Lori) of Jasper, Kevin Murphy (Jessica) of Terre Haute and Daniel Murphy (Ashley) of Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Matthew, Kathryn, Ann, Jackson, and Elliott Murphy; his mother, Margaret Murphy-Danielson (Dan) of Naples, Fla.; one sister, Kathleen Murphy of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, John Murphy (Beth) of Indianapolis and Terry Murphy (Marianne) of Chicago.
Preceding him in death was his father, Peter Francis Murphy.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Peter Francis Murphy III will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow at a later date at Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.
A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or their sister parish in Dupity Haiti, Anderson Woods, or a favorite charity.
