Pete Lawrence Bauer, 87, Greenwood

Pete Lawrence Bauer entered into the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at his home in Greenwood surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 26, 1934, in Martin County, Indiana to Henry and Mary (Mann) Bauer

Pete graduated from Shoals High School and was a United States Army veteran having served in Germany from 1957 until 1959. He was employed as a truck driver for Renner’s Express for many years and retired from TNT Holland in 1994. He was a member of Teamsters Local 135 in Indianapolis. He loved reading the Bible, golfing, gardening, Center Grove and I.U. sports.

He married Carolyn Lea Anderson on May 25, 1960, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dubois. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children, Melanie Norman (Doug) of Greenwood, Brian Bauer of Greenwood, and Stacy Wiltshire (Fred) of Indianapolis; six fantastic grandchildren, Aaron Beasley (Leyla) of Greenwood, John Norman (Brittany) of Greenwood, Jacob Beasley (Tiffany) of Boiling Springs, S.C., Jared Norman of Greenwood, Kelsey Beasley of Evansville, and Joel Norman (Olivia) of Greenwood; four precious great-grandchildren, Lucía, Caleb, Sofía and Clara; three step-grandchildren, Dawn Koers (Mark) of Indianapolis, Tina Molnar (Michael) of Boise, Idaho, and Brian Wiltshire (Shannon) of Indianapolis; three step-great-grandchildren, Meghan, Eddie and Naomi; two sisters, Margaret Zehr (Armin) of Dubois and Ann Troutman (Lee) of French Lick; three brothers, Louie Bauer of Bloomington, Augie Bauer (Helen) of Shoals, and Kenny Bauer of Dubois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Rose McKibben and Helen Greene and two brothers: George Bauer and Wally Bauer.

A service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at 7 p.m. at Crosspointe Community Church 1222 Demaree Road Greenwood with visitation on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the 7 p.m. service at the church. The United States Army Honor Guard will conduct military honors following the service.

A graveside service will be on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 5105 Indiana 56 (IN-56) in Dubois with full military honors to follow.
