Pence directs flags to half-staff in honor of former Jasper mayor
Governor Mike Pence is directing flags at state facilities in Dubois County to be flown at half-staff in honor of former Jasper Mayor Jerome “Chick” Alles, who passed away on Saturday.
Flags should be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of his funeral, Thursday, July 7, 2016. Governor Pence also issued the following statement regarding former Mayor Alles.
“Former Mayor Chick Alles was a leader in the community of Jasper, and I was saddened to learn of his passing,” said Governor Mike Pence. “A veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II, Chick went on to serve three terms as mayor of Jasper and held other positions of public service in Dubois County. Karen and I will keep all those who knew and loved this decent public servant in our thoughts and prayers.”
Governor Pence also asks businesses and residents to lower their flags to half-staff to honor the life and service of former Mayor Jerome “Chick” Alles.
