Pauline L. Barr, 89, Winslow

Pauline L. Barr, 89, of Winslow, Indiana, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 28, 2025.

She was born in Ferdinand, Indiana, on October 15, 1935, to Paul and Daisy King.

She was married to Alton Barr, who preceded her in death in 1988.

Pauline loved crocheting afghans and giving them to her family and friends. She made baby blankets and also made toboggans and prayer blankets for hospitals and cancer patients.

Her faith in God was very strong and she could sing like an angel. She loved to read, draw, and paint. She canned vegetables every summer and was a wonderful cook. 

She would give until she had nothing left, helping others whenever or however she could, teaching and encouraging so many. 

She loved movie nights and pizza with her boys. 

She got saved at Oakland City Nazarene Church when she was 12 years old, where her parents were also members. She was a faithful prayer warrior, and she often said, “Take ahold of Jesus’ hand and don’t let go.”  She was a wonderful mother, full of love for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Daisy (Conner) King; husband, Alton Barr; sister, Via Chapman; sons Larry and Jim Barr; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Leon Ballard; granddaughter, Paula Ballard, and grandson, Tom Rowe; and great-grandchild, Ray Appel Jr.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff Barr and Bruce Barr; grandchildren, Mike (Connie) Barr, Holly (Davin) Leinenbach, Sarah Barr, Larry A. (Latrisha) Barr, Jackie (Tim) Ashby and Jacob Barr; great-grandchildren, Wesley Barr, Aaron Barr, Susan (Philip) Crofford, Julie (Sterling Kiefer) Appel, Jenny (Cooper Hobbs) Appel, Josh Appel, Daisy Drake, Jackson Drake, Ryleigh Zenthofer, Reagan Walden, Elliana Barr, Karleigh Barr and Chris (Lindsay) Rowe; step-great-grandchildren, Logan Rowe, Kayla Rowe and Alicya (Kevin) Smith; great-great-grandchildren, Faith Crofford, Levi Crofford, Eva Kiefer and Aurora Rowe; step-great-great-grandchildren, Jay Mills, Brailey Mills, Kendall Smith, Emily Thorton and Elliot Thorton; and brothers, Robert (Francis) King, Willard King, and Roy King.

Funeral Services will be held at noon on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at O.D. Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana, with burial to follow at Birdseye Cemetery, Pastor Gary Pancake officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service time.
