Paul E. Tobin, 83, St. Henry

Paul E. Tobin, 83, of St. Henry, passed away at 11:28 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at his home.

He was born on January 19, 1943, at Stork Hospital in Huntingburg, Indiana, to William E. Jr. and Edna (Schwinghamer) Tobin.

Paul was united in marriage to Mary Ann Durcholz on October 27, 1962, at St. Henry Catholic Church.

Paul was a lifelong member of St. Henry Catholic Church and, following the parish merger, of Christ the King Parish. Together, Paul and Mary Ann were honored to receive the Simon Brute Award in recognition of their faith and service. He was also a member of the St. Henry Community Club and the Catholic Knights of America.

Paul retired after 45 years of dedicated employment with Jasper Corporation, which later became Kimball during his tenure. In his earlier years, he also worked part-time at Bolte’s Texaco Filling Station along Main Street in Ferdinand.

Paul enjoyed bowling, amateur golf and spending time woodworking around his home. He took great pride in maintaining his meticulously manicured lawn. Paul also appreciated the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time outdoors and watching the squirrels and rabbits that frequented his backyard. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and especially loved watching his grandchildren grow through the years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann Tobin of St. Henry; three sons, Ronald “Toby” (LaDonna) Tobin of St. Henry, Michael (Anita) Tobin of Ferdinand and Daniel (Candace) Tobin of Huntingburg; four siblings, Shirley Mehling, Mary (Steve) Kissinger, Martha (Gene) Tenbarge and Patti (Don) Huber all of Evansville; nine grandchildren, Brenna, Brent (Shanna), Chanel (Brandon), Austin, Landon, Mason, Josh (Caitlyn), Mitchell and Mackenzie; and by four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother-in-law, Lee Mehling.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at St. Henry Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at St. Henry Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Thursday, prior to the mass at the church.  Rainey Funeral Home in Dale has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Henry Cemetery Fund or St. Henry Volunteer Fire Department.
