Patterson receives $500 scholarship in Rotary Club speech contest

Melanie Patterson, a junior at Jasper High School, was received a $500 scholarship through the Rotary Club of Jasper as the finalist in the Four-Way Speech Contest.
Participants in the contest composed a speech focused on leadership and service as well as the Rotary Club’s Four-Way Test.
The Four-Way Test ensures the following principles are met in regards to behavior for a Rotarian: Is it the TRUTH?; Is it FAIR to all concerned?; Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?; and Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
The Four-Way Test is used by Rotarians worldwide as a moral code for personal and business relationships.
The Rotary Club of Jasper hosted a “Four-Way Speech Contest” on January 14, 2017. The contest was held at VU Jasper Campus Center for Technology, Innovation, and Manufacturing.
Melanie will represent the Rotary Club of Jasper at the District Rotary contest to be held in Bedford, Indiana on March 4, 2017.
