Patricia “Pat” E. (Middleton) Hewitt, 82, Evansville

Patricia “Pat” E. (Middleton) Hewitt, 82, of Evansville, passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, at Woodlands Nursing Center.

She was born July 10, 1939, in Schenectady, New York to the late Charles F. and Elizabeth (Gage) Middleton.

She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Hewitt, with whom she recently celebrated 55 years of marriage; son, Paul Hewitt (Marni Lerner) of Los Angeles; daughter, Mary “Gail” Snow (Ryan) of Evansville; and grandchildren, Grayson Hewitt and Marley Snow. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Ted Hewitt of Orange Park, Fla.; her nephews and niece: Mike Hewitt (Abby), David Hewitt, Kathy Vaughn and Greg Hewitt (Gerry Roy), plus numerous grand nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her beloved aunt, Ruth Gage, and dear sister-in-law, Pat Hewitt.

An independent spirit with a magnetic personality and infectious laugh, Pat loved her husband and family with all of her heart and every fiber of her being. She enjoyed her close friends, whether playing tennis, golf, her favorite card games or just spending time talking, and they, in turn, felt the same affinity for her.

Both kind and strong-willed, she was never shy with her opinion or her affection for those she cared about.

A proud “New Yorker” at heart, Pat was always known for her radiant smile and fiery personality thanks to her red hair, and she touched all who had the great fortune to meet her.

She was a voracious reader of mystery novels, who also loved music, especially Frank Sinatra and The Beatles, as well as word puzzles and games.

Patricia graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Springs, MD, and received her Bachelor’s degree from the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie-Mellon University) in psychology in 1961. She attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
