Patricia (Burton) Warner, 79, Petersburg
Patricia (Burton) Warner was born on May 8, 1946, in Petersburg to Lawrence and Audra Burton.

She passed away at the age of 79 on February 2, 2026, leaving a legacy defined by unyielding strength and vibrant energy.
A proud graduate of Petersburg High School, Patricia attended both Purdue University and the University of Evansville to pursue her dreams of becoming a writer. She was a woman of rare grit who poured her energy into caring for her hometown. Her deep-seated commitment to her town was evident in everything she touched—from her decades navigating the real estate market with sharp determination to the hours she spent cooking for the community Thanksgiving. She believed in the heartbeat of Petersburg and took pride in ensuring her neighbors were cared for, fed, and supported.
She lived life entirely on her own terms, meeting every challenge with an independent spirit and resilient character. While her life’s journey was deeply personal to her, her impact on the community was undeniable. She was an active and devoted member of The First United Methodist Church of Petersburg, even in recent times, teaching Sunday School again. She was a force of nature who found her greatest purpose in building her own piece of Heaven in the place she was born and raised.
Patricia was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband, Charles “Ed” Warner, in 2010; her parents, Lawrence and Audra Burton; and her brother, Larry Burton.
She is survived by her brother Forrest Burton and by her children, Suzanne (Jerry) Lane, Stephanie (Brad) Onyett, Christy (Brian) Waddell, and John Warner; grandchildren, Matt Lane, Clay (Paige) Lane, Andrea Onyett, and Frederick Waddell; and three great-grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no service. Following her lead in loving Petersburg, please make a donation in her memory to your favorite Petersburg charity or organization.
