Patoka Lake plant ID walk

Join Patoka Lake Wildlife Specialist Brian Finch, and SWCD Invasive Specialist Emily Finch, on Saturday August 22, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for a free plant ID walk along a portion of the Patoka Lake Bike Trail. Learn about several native forest and edge species that benefit wildlife, as well as the invasive plants that threaten them.

Attendance is free but does require a state park pass or daily entry fee. The walk will be easygoing and stay mostly on paved and gravel areas. It will take place rain or shine, except in the case of severe weather. RSVPs appreciated but not required.

Meet at the Bike Trail Parking Lot that is south of County Rd 1060 S (38.400603, -86.659526). Google maps directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/gPgbJHDnPbt9Y5rU7.

Driving Directions: The park entrance is located at 3084 N Dillard Rd, north of State Road 164. Follow Dillard Rd to the park entrance gate. After the gate, drive straight for 1.4 miles. Just BEFORE the second road intersection, park in the gravel parking area on your left. (This is before the turnoff to the campground or nature center.)

Directions for Campers: If you are camping at Patoka Lake, exit the campground and turn right onto County Road 1060 S. At the next intersection turn left, then immediately pull off into the gravel parking lot on your right. (Can also take the bike trail.)
