Patoka Lake announces June events

There are four events that are being held at the Patoka Lake in June:

Kids’ Fishing Derby at Patoka Lake

The annual Kids’ Fishing Derby will be held at Osborn Ramp, off Highway 145 at Patoka Lake on Saturday, June 10 with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. This event is for children 12 years of age and under and they must be accompanied by an adult.  Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish, most fish caught, and more.  The award ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Bring lawn chairs, sunscreen and refreshments, and join in the fun.

Full Moon 5K at Patoka Lake on June 9th

Registration is open for the Full Moon 5K taking place at Patoka Lake beach on Friday, June 9th at 9:30 p.m. Race 3.1miles through the woods on roadways, a well-maintained gravel and grass lane and paved bike trail lit by moonlight and luminaries. All proceeds from this event will go to support Patoka’s non-releasable raptors; a red-tailed hawk, eastern screech owl and bald eagle.  Early registration is $25 which includes a race t-shirt. Free Sailing Lessons at Patoka Lake

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources in conjunction with the Patoka Lake Sailing Club, will be offering Free Basic Sailing Lessons to the public on Saturday, June 17th.There will be

three consecutive thirty-minute sessions offered and will include thirty minutes of dryland instruction and will conclude with an hour of water based instruction. All participants must pre-register with the Patoka Lake Nature Center, before the date of the event. All lessons will be on a first call–first registered basis for the remaining of 36 spots. Details:

Session one will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Session two will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Session Three will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Any participant under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult. Participants will be asked to sign a liability waiver and wear a life jacket. (Provided or you may bring your own). Lessons will be canceled in the event of severe weather. Please call the Patoka Lake Nature Center if in doubt on the day of the event.

Patoka’s Cruise-In with a View Open Car Show

Join Patoka’s 1st car show with a view at the Patoka Lake Beach on Saturday, July 22, 2017.  The show will run from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. EDT in the upper beach parking lot overlooking the lake.  The entry fee is $15 now through July 15 or $20 the day of the show.  Day of registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the event site.  The entrance fee to Patoka Lake will be waived for all participants.  A rain date is set for July 29.  The first 50 registered vehicles will receive a dash plaque.  Trophies will be awarded. There will also be music, food, door prizes, raffles and a 50/50.  All proceeds from this event will support the educational birds of prey at the Nature Center.  This program is brought to you by the Patoka Lake Volunteers.
