Patoka Full Moon 5K to affect traffic to state park

On Friday, June 9, 2017, night motorists may experience a slight delay if traveling into the Newton Stewart State Recreation Area at Patoka Lake.

From 9:30 p.m. until approximately 11:30 p.m., motorists will be sharing the road with race participants in the Patoka Lake Full Moon 5K. During this time, traffic will be halted for brief moments as participants race through the property.

Areas of the property that will be directly affected are the beach and the Modern Campground road. The lower beach parking lot will be closing on Thursday for the 5K.

Anyone wishing to view the complete event is encouraged to be at the Patoka Lake beach by 9:15 p.m. The event begins at 9:30 p.m. starting at the beach. Patoka Lake (stateparks.IN.gov/2953.htm) is at 3084 N. Dillard Road, Birdseye, IN 47513.
