Patoka 2000 seeks community support for bridge beautification, Pluck a Duck event

Patoka 2000, a committee of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce, is seeking community support for two upcoming initiatives aimed at beautifying the Patoka River Bridge area.

Pluck a Duck
The annual Pluck a Duck event, formerly known as the Duck Race, will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at noon on the square at the downtown swings. Toy duck sponsorships are available for $5 per duck or three for $10. Forms and payment must be received by the Jasper Chamber of Commerce prior to the start of the event. Participants must be 18 or older. Entry forms can be mailed or delivered to the Jasper Chamber of Commerce, 302 West 6th Street, P.O. Box 307, Jasper, IN 47547.

Fall Bridge Flowers
With summer flowers on the Patoka River Bridge soon to be removed, Patoka 2000 is now accepting donations to fund fall mums that will adorn the bridge through late October and early November. Donations may be made in any amount and can be designated in memory of, in honor of, or as a tribute to a loved one or favorite cause. Donors will be recognized in a classified ad in the Dubois County Free Press.

This year’s bridge watering volunteers include Kimball International, Debbie Allen State Farm Insurance staff, Jasper Jaycees, Corie Eckerle, Drew Englert and Nancy Eckerle.

The deadline for fall flower donations is Sept. 30. For more information or to make a donation, contact the Jasper Chamber of Commerce at 482-6866.
