Patoka 2000 Duck Race set to take place July 13

Patoka 2000, the beautification committee of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce, has scheduled the annual Duck Race again for Thursday, July 13, at 11:30 a.m. at the Jasper Municipal Swimming Pool.

The Duck Race helps to raise funds for the beautification of the Patoka River Bridge area, making sure that flowers and flags are on the bridge to beautify that area for local residents and also for visitors that come into our city.

You can help sponsor a duck for the duck race by purchasing one for $5 or 3 for $10. You can stop by the Jasper Chamber of Commerce to buy chances up until the day before the Duck Race. Applications can also be downloaded at the bottom of this article.

Lots of great prizes for 2023 have been donated his year, including a $250 Downtown Jasper Shopping Spree, a $149 value picnic table donated by Krempp Lumber, $100 cash from Bob Luegers Motors and $100 cash from Uebelhor & Sons, $50 gift certificate from Olinger Diamond Center, $50 Gift card from Green Thumb, two $50 gift cards from Jasper Pub ‘n Grub, $50 cash from Nancy Eckerle, $25 Gift card from Leben Nutrition, $20 gift card from Chocolate Bliss, $20 gift card from Jasper Gift Basket and three $10 gift cards from Zax Creamery.  

This is the 30th year for the Duck Race to be held in conjunction with Patoka 2000.

Some of the projects of that group include the urns on the Patoka River Bridge, the Semi-Annual clean-up of the bridge area, encouraging the proper tree in the proper place, the Annual Blessing and Dedication of a tree in Jasper on Earth Day, Co-sponsoring the annual tree give-away with the Jasper Park Department, putting flowers on the bridge nearly year-round, maintenance of the south side Welcome to Jasper sign and encouraging the general beautification of Jasper.
