Parklands ideas to be presented to Jasper Park Board
The firm hired to finalize plans for The Parklands will present their ideas to the Jasper Park Board at their regular meeting Tuesday, January 12 at 4:30 p.m.
The Jasper Park Board hired Hafer Associates in August to create plans for the city’s central park for an amount not to exceed $60,000; $300,000 was included in the Jasper Park Department’s budget for 2016 to go towards planning and developing the park.
Since the City of Jasper finalized the purchase of the former Jasper Country Club property in 2013, the new central park has transitioned from a managed-meadows to a somewhat groomed walk and run trail featuring a mile-long loop that begins at KlubHaus 61.
The City engaged CityVisions to create a vision for the proposed park in 2013. The firm that worked to create the Downtown + Riverfront Master Plan presented their conceptual ideas in March of 2014. (Here is a story about that presentation and the committee formed to help create it.)
CityVisions was paid $62,396.37 for work directly relating to the conceptual plan. The firm was also paid $9,603.61 for professional services, lodging, meals and travel while completing the plan.
Here is the plan they created based on public input sessions.
