Parking ticket scam going around
Jasper — Some residents have received emails addressed from cityparking@transportation.com alleging they have accrued parking violations around the Square in Jasper, police reported.
The email includes a scannable QR code that reportedly connects the recipients with more information about the alleged violation, fines, and the ability to make a payment.
This is a scam, police said. Do not scan the code or click any links in the email if you receive it.
The City of Jasper does not utilize electronic payments for parking tickets; they can only be paid by mail or in person.
If you have made a payment through this scam email or have questions, contact the Jasper Police Department at 812-482-2255.
