Parents Supporting Education celebrating support professional in local schools
November 15, 2023 is National Education Support Professionals Day. Parents Supporting Education has collaborated with the four Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools PTOs to celebrate these amazing staff members not just for a day, but for the entire month of November.
Each week during the month, we will focus on one school by providing snacks, goodies, and daily giveaways. All month, Parents Supporting Education will have social media posts to express our appreciation and raise awareness about the importance of their work in creating thriving school communities.
Education Support Professionals (ESPs) are essential members of the educational community who provide crucial non-teaching services within schools. They play a vital role in supporting the overall functioning of schools and contribute to the well-being and success of students. ESPs encompass a diverse group of staff members who work in various roles, both inside and outside the classroom. Some common categories of ESPs include:
- Clerical services
- Custodial and maintenance services
- Food services
- Health and student services
- Paraeducators/Instructional Assistants
- Security services
- Technical services
- Transportation services
These professionals collectively contribute to the effective functioning of schools, creating an environment where students can learn and thrive. The term “Education Support Professional” emphasizes the importance of recognizing and valuing the diverse contributions of these individuals to the education system.
