Parents need to be aware of sexting dangers
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department issued a warning and reminder regarding the dangers of sexting for children.
According to a release from the department, parents should remember that children are exposed to and can communicate with anyone in the world at the touch of a button.
“Just like the phone and internet scams that we are exposed to continually,” said Sgt. Chris Faulkenberg, “there are people who would take advantage of the children by convincing them to send nude photographs or inappropriate videos by text or social media.”
The department is urging parents to speak to their children about social media and to remind them that, “just because someone appears to be an innocent friend from another state or country on your child’s friends list does not mean that is who they actually are; it could be a sexual predator.”
