Pamela Ayn Nelson, 72, Jasper
Pamela Ayn Nelson, 72, of Jasper, and formerly of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021, in the Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Pam was born in Evansville on September 23, 1948, to the late Joe and Allene (Vote) Ackerman.
Pam graduated from Boonville High School in 1966. Pam attended Indiana State University where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha.
On December 23, 1972, she married James L. Nelson in the Main Street United Methodist Church in Boonville. They had one son Jeffrey. In 1976, the family moved to Petersburg from Terre Haute where Jim was reassigned as a trooper by the Indiana State Police.
Pam retired from the Public Service Indiana (Duke Energy) Vincennes Office where she worked in the Engineering Department. During retirement, she worked as a deputy in the Pike County Treasurer’s Office. In 2018, she and Jim relocated to Jasper. Pam was an active member of the Petersburg First United Methodist Church. She was serving as treasurer for the board of directors of Pike County Christian Assistance which sponsors the food pantry at Somebody’s Place.
Pam was an avid golfer and a member of the Prides Creek Golf Course Ladies Association.
Survivors include her husband, Jim of Jasper, son, Jeffrey, his wife Mendy (Henson); grandsons, Nolan and Sam of Petersburg and sister, Linda Goad of Ormond Beach, Fla.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. in the Petersburg First United Methodist Church. A Burial Service will continue at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville. From 1:00 p.m. to the time of service, the family will host friends in the Fellowship Hall. Casual attire is suggested.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Petersburg First United Methodist Church or Pike County Christian Assistance.
