Pair arrested for child molestation

Two people were arrested for several charges, including Level 1 Felony child molestation, by the Huntingburg Police Department.

According to the Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office, the department began an investigation on June 12, 2026. In conjunction with the Southwest Indiana Child Advocacy Coalition Center (SWICACC), several interviews were conducted. Through the course of the investigation, several allegations were brought forward that resulted in charges being filed against Desiree Wagner, 22, and Garrett Jaquett, 35, for three victims.

According to the investigative affidavit, the investigation began after authorities were alerted to a young child exhibiting signs of sexual abuse. While investigating the allegation, investigators learned of two additional victims.

Garrett T. Jaquett was charged with the following: Child Molesting, a Level 1 felony; Attempted Child Molesting, a Level 4 felony; Child Molesting, a Level 4 felony; Performing Sexual Conduct in the Presence of a Minor, a Level 6 felony; Intimidation, a Level 6 felony; Attempted Sexual Battery, a Level 6 felony; and Theft, a Class A misdemeanor

Desiree M. Wagner, 22, Huntingburg, was charged with the following: Child Molesting, Level 1 felony; Attempted Child Molesting, Level 4 felony; Performing Sexual Conduct in the Presence of a Minor, Level 6 felony; Performing Sexual Conduct in the Presence of a Minor, Level 6 felony; Intimidation, Level 6 felony; Dissemination of Matter Harmful to Minors, Level 6 felony; and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, A Misdemeanor

On June 15, 2026, an initial hearing was held in these cases before Senior Judge William Weikert in Dubois Circuit Court. A cash bond was set for each defendant in the amount of $125,000. Should they post this cash bond, they will be placed on enhanced pre-trial monitoring supervised through Dubois County Community Corrections.

Jaquett and Wagner were also ordered to have no contact with the alleged victims.
