Otto J. Kress, 95, Jasper

Otto J. Kress, 95, of Jasper, passed away at 5:42 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.
Otto was born in Jasper, Indiana on May 15, 1921, to Michael and Rosalia (Berger) Kress. He married Mary L. Bockelman on February 7, 1942, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2016.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII, and a member of the VFW Post #673, and a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #147 in Jasper.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
Otto was a co-owner and retired from Hoosierland Insurance Agency in 1986. He previously was a partner in the Knies and Kress Tile Company.
Surviving are two daughters, Kaye Kress of Jasper and Jane Seidl and husband Ken of Jasper; one daughter-in-law, Aggie Kress (John) of Jasper; two sons, William “Bill” Kress and wife Michelle of Jasper and Mark “Marty” Kress of Jasper; 16 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were two sons; Joseph and John Kress, two daughters; Marilyn and Barbara Kress, two great-grandchildren, Sawyer Beckman and Kasen Goepfrich, one sister, Claudine Linville, and five brothers, Bernard, Robert, Hubert, Edwin and Thomas Kress.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Otto J. Kress will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Special Olympics, or to a favorite charity.
