Otto F. “Ottie” Kiefer, 85, Holland

Otto F. “Ottie” Kiefer, 85, Holland, passed away at 6:24 a.m., on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at his home.
He was born June 7, 1931, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Robert P. and Matilda (Burger) Kiefer.
Otto retired as a construction crew supervisor from the Daniel Boone Development Council in Kentucky. Following his retirement, he worked part-time at Aristocraft in Huntingburg. Otto served in the Indiana Army National Guard for nine years.
He was united in marriage to Joyce Anderson who passed away on May 17, 1961.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three daughters, Marcia Jones, Brenda Swindle and Marlene who died in infancy; one grandson, Chad Swindle; two sisters, Roselyn Schmidt and Anna Seifrig; and seven brothers, Ambrose, Roman, Hugo, John, George, Robert Kiefer and George who died in infancy.
He is survived by one son, David (Aldene) Kiefer of Russell Springs, Ky.; one daughter, Charlene Kiefer of Corbin, Ky.; one sister, Helen Kiefer of Huntingburg; his caregiver and niece, Barbara Ramsey of Holland; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Funeral services for Otto F. Kiefer will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Shiloh Cemetery near Ireland.
Pastor Paul Newland will officiate at the service. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Holland American Legion Memorial Detail.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions can be made to Heart-to-Heart Hospice of Jasper, the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center, or the American Heart Association.
