Othmar J. Ebert, 96, of Ferdinand passed away Tuesday August 19th in Scenic Hills Care Center, Ferdinand.

He was born July 13, 1918 in Ferdinand to Joseph & Mary (Rahman) Ebert. He married Hilda T. Schaefer on May 22, 1945 in St. Meinrad Archabbey Church.

Othmar retired from DMI Furniture and was a retired farmer. He was a member of the St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366, Life member St. Meinrad Knights Of Columbus #5599 St. Meinrad, Farm Bureau, Ferdinand Senior Citizens, St. Ferdinand Parish and its St. Josephs Sodality. Othmar was a director for Perry-Spencer RTC for 15 years. He enjoyed playing cards and farming.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Amelia Laake, three brothers, Edwin, Robert and infant Raymond Ebert.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Hilda T. Ebert; one son, Sylvan Ebert and his wife Linda of Greenwood; five daughters, Norma Murray and husband Jim of Kokomo, Ind., Diane Balbach and husband David of Dale, Marlene Braunecker and husband Gene of Huntingburg, Sandy Meyer and husband Steve of Lexington, Ky., and Terri Carson and husband Jeff of Carmel, Ind.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive; one brother, Anthony Ebert of Ferdinand.

Funeral services 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Ferdinand Church, burial with military graveside rites provided by St. Meinrad Legion Post 366 in the St. Ferdinand church cemetery.
