Oscar S. Lemond, 83, Warrick County
Oscar S. Lemond, 83, of Warrick County, formerly of Jasper, passed away at 7:01 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

Oscar was born in Duff on March 1, 1936, to Orville and Catherine (Nolan) Lemond. He had two marriages, his first marriage was to Lois I. Kendall on September 8, 1956. She preceded him in death on June 4, 1990. He then married Betty Neukam on July 20, 1986, in St. John’s Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2016.
He worked for the Lemons Coal Company and then for the Loogootee Coal Mines until 1977 when a coal mine accident caused his disability and early retirement. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He attended Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana. He enjoyed driving to Shoney’s in Jasper for breakfast and spending time with family.
He is survived by three daughters, Karen Carter (Norman) of Boonville, Barbara Eden (Danny) of Hudson, Fla., and Brenda Miller of Eureka, Ind.; five sons, Dave Kendall of Evansville, Russell Lemond (Laura) of Boonville, Wayne Lemond (Judy) of Evansville, Steve Lemond (Amanda) of Newburgh, and Billy Lemond (Tienery) of Boonville; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, and seven great great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Marie Weisman (Terry) of Newburgh; one stepson, Jimmy Neukam (Nancy) of Owensboro; stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Henrietta Toby (James) of Huntingburg, Margaret Brown of Huntingburg, Mary Bohnart (Butch) of Huntingburg, and Ester Harris of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; three brothers, Charlie Lemond of Kyana, Albert Lemond of Mt. Carmel, Ill., and James Lemond (Cordelia) of Huntingburg.
Preceding him in death beside his two wives, was one son, Alfred Kendall, one daughter, Wanda Miller, one granddaughter Patty Miller, one grandson, Alfred Miller, one great grandson, Brandon Miller, one sister, Melba “Junie” Montgomery, and five brothers, Edward, William, Joseph, Peter and Robert Lemond.
A funeral service for Oscar S. Lemond will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow at Haysville Community Cemetery in Haysville. Pastor Tim Kraemer will officiate.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 2 p.m. service time on Monday, January 6, 2020, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.
