Oscar Hurst, 91

Oscar Hurst, age 91, of Jasper, passed away at 9:44 p.m. on Sunday (July 7, 2013) at the Timbers of Jasper.
Oscar was born in Ireland, Indiana on June 8, 1922 to John and Ida (Pfeffer) Hurst. He was married to Myrtle Sallee, she preceded him in death on July 26, 2008.
He worked as truck driver for many years.
Oscar was an Army Veteran who served in the European Theater during WWII.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, the VFW Post #673, the American Legion Post #147, and the Jasper Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards.

Preceding him in death beside his wife are a daughter Jackie Crouse, and one son, Gregory J. Hurst, one sister, Mary Ann Hurst, and six brothers, Gene Hurst, and Ted, Sylvester, George, Florian, and Ambrose Sermersheim.
Funeral services for Oscar Hurst will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (July 10, 2013) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.
Friends may call from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (July 10, 2013) at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
