Orlan E. Bauer, 81

Orlan E. Bauer, age 81, of Jasper, passed away at 7:14 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

Orlan was born on August 18, 1932 in Dubois, Ind., to Edward and Evelyn (Neukam) Bauer.

He married Lilly Mae Krodel on September 22, 1960 at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, Ind.

Orlan retired from Indiana Cabinet Company in Dubois where he worked for many years.

Orlan was a Navy veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville.

He enjoyed gardening, and was an avid Indiana University basketball and St. Louis Cardinal’s fan.

He is survived by his wife, Lilly Mae Bauer of Jasper; one daughter, Martha Sue (Marti) Woodward, and her husband Alan, of Jasper; two sons, Brian Bauer and Jason Bauer and his wife Melissa, both of Jasper; three grandchildren – Kendra, Kelsey, and Brandon Bauer.

Preceding him in death are two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Bauer, and one granddaughter, Amanda Bauer.

Funeral services for Orlan Bauer will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2014, at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, IN, with burial to follow at Community Cemetery in Haysville, IN. Pastor Timothy Kraemer will officiate. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, IN, and one hour before services at the church.
