Orange County man escapes serious injury in rollover accident

An Orange County man escaped serious injury when his car went off the road and rolled multiple times Wednesday afternoon.
According to Dubois County deputies, Phillip D. Asbury, 29, of West Baden, was eastbound on State Road 56 in a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier at about 2:34 p.m. when he crashed.
Asbury’s Cavalier went off the south side of the highway in a curve just east of Dubois Road NE. The car went up an embankment, went airborne and struck several trees before it rolled an unknown number of times. The car finally came to rest facing west on its side, well off of the roadway.
Asbury told deputies on scene that he fell asleep and only awoke as the car started crashing. He suffered slight injuries to his face and mouth, according to police.
Asbury was cited for operating a vehicle without financial responsibility — no insurance.
The car was considered a total loss.
Dubois Fire Department First Responders, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services, Uebelhor and Son’s Towing Service and Freyberger Farms assisted at the scene.
