Opal L. Minor, 97, of Dale, passed away at 9:20 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Willowdale Village nursing home in Dale.

She was born January 1, 1929, in Dale, Indiana, to Charles and Eloise (Medcalf) Cooper.
She was united in marriage to her first husband, Myron James Kaetzel, on October 18, 1947. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1994. She later married Eugene Minor on December 10, 1994. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2016.
Opal worked for General Electric for 23-and-a-half years and later worked at Holiday Foods in Santa Claus. She retired in July of 1993 from Spencer County Bank, where she served as an assistant cashier.
She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Lamar and the Antique Steam and Gas Engine Club. For several years, Opal ran the kitchen during the club’s spring and fall shows in Boonville. She was an exceptional cook and pie baker and enjoyed sharing her talents with others. Above all, she treasured spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Along with her husbands, Myron and Eugene, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Pearl Cooper, Irene A. Barnett and infant Eloise Cooper; and five brothers, Louis, Charles, Marion, Arleigh and James Cooper.
She is survived by four stepchildren, Tammy (John) Hamilton, Peggy (Gary) Hunter, Sheila (Doug) Kress and Jeania Small; and by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Opal L. Minor will be held at 11:00 a.m. CDT on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Rainey Funeral Home in Dale. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. CDT on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
