Opal F. Woolsey, 80

Opal F. Woolsey, 80, of Stendal, passed away at 7:53 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

She was born March 1, 1935 in Washington, Indiana, to Marvin and Ruth (Stephens) Walters. She was married to Valoris Boyd Woolsey on February 28, 1964 at Bethel General Baptist Church near Stendal.

Mrs. Woolsey was a homemaker and worked on the family’s farm. She was a member of Bethel General Baptist Church where she served for many years as the church secretary.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother who died during the Vietnam War, Bobby Walters.

She is survived by her husband, Valoris “Boyd” Woolsey of Stendal; her caregivers, Dale and Martha Nalley of Oakland City; two brothers, Frank Walters of Washington and Roy Walters of Petersburg; and three sisters, Mary Helen Taylor of Otwell, Linda Perry of Winslow and Donna Uppencamp of Petersburg.

Funeral services for Opal F. Woolsey will be held at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Augusta Cemetery in Augusta, Indiana.  Pastor Bob Deel will officiate at the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, the morning of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bethel General Baptist Church Building Fund.
